UPM leaps to 202nd spot in World University Rankings

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) boosted its ranking to the 202nd position in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2018/19. UPM jumped 27 notches from the 229th position last year, its fifth consecutive rise since 2013. Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris, UPM’s Vice Chancellor, was delighted to announce that UPM is in the top 20% of the world’s best universities out of 1,223 universities evaluated by the QS.

'Avoid corruption, perform duty with integrity'

The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris urges all UPM staff to always carry out the entrusted duties and responsibilities with integrity. She reminded them to stay away from engaging with elements that could lead to abuse of power and corruption. She asserted this at the signing of the ‘Anti-Corruption Pledge’ to eradicate corruption and uphold the integrity of UPM staff hosted by the Registrar Office, UPM.

Prof. Datin Paduka Dato 'Dr. Aini Ideris, received the Lifetime Achievement Award

The award, a collaboration between the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry of Malaysia and livestock and veterinary associations, was introduced in 2001 with an aim to recognise the outstanding performance of individuals and industries in enhancing the development and improvement of livestock-related industries in Malaysia.

UPM shows appreciation to industry and community partners in ‘Industry and Community Aprreciation’ (ICAN 2018)

The seventh annual event awards UPM’s High Impact Industry and Community Network Awards to industry and community partners, UPM academic and non-academic staff and students who have contributed outstandingly in the industrial or community networking programmes and the community in 2017.

UPM-CUCKOO International collaborates on water quality research

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) signed a Collaboration Agreement with CUCKOO International in the ‘H2O Industrial Centre of Excellence’ (HO ICOE) project. The H2O ICOE project will be implemented in three phases over a five year period with the goal of establishing the Industrial National Reference Centre.

Moringa leaves in tablet form as an innovative low-cost multivitamin supplement

A group of researchers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has successfully developed Moringa Oleifera leaves as a low-cost multivitamin supplement in table form, which can be served as a food supplement for everyone, especially the lower income group.

Mawaddah Ramadan helps UPM asnaf students

SERDANG, June 7– The project has provided Iftar meals to 50 fasting students (asnaf) every day. This beautiful tradition enables people to get closer and revitalizes the feelings of helping one another and of generosity, as well.

Tautan Mahabbah

SERDANG, May 11 - Alumni Centre in cooperation with Pusat Islam Universiti and UPM Alumni Association organised Tautan Mahabbah (Thanksgiving Ceremony) as one of the programmes to commemorate this annual celebration of UPM Alumni Day-21 May for the year 2018, at 7.00 p.m. in UPM Mosque.

Ex-Diploma Science Reunion reconnect Alumni Class of 1976-1983/84

SERDANG, May 5 - Ex-Diploma Science UPM, Class of 1976-1983/84 for the first time had an alumni gathering in the UPM. There were 120 participants who attended the luncheon. Our guests of honour was Director of UPM Alumni Centre, Prof. Dr. Hazandy Abdul Hamid. They had such good response from everyone. The event started off with a brief welcoming speech from the Chapter Representative followed by alumni engagement session.

An-evening with UPM Alumni Chapters

SERDANG, May 5 - Alumni Centre hosted An-evening with UPM Alumni Chapters to establish strategic networking with the Alumni Chapters in order to increase fund for the Tabung Kebajikan Sumbangan Pelajar UPM RM10juta. The event started around 3 p.m. with the arrival of guests, followed by opening speech by the Director of Alumni Centre, Prof. Dr. Hazandy Abdul Hamid, followed by Alumni Passion and Campassion presentation from Deputy Director, Mr. Husalshah Rizal Hussian.

TRACE @Mauritius

PORT LOUIS, April 27 – Alumni Centre continues its TRACE programme at Port Louis, Mauritius in conjuction with Putra Coco @Mauritius programme that was organised by Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre. The programme included activities such as sharing of the past and upcoming events and promoting the importance of alumni to support the aspirations of UPM’s PG200.

Workshop on Basal Stem Rot

SERDANG, April 16-17 – Yayasan Pak Rashid UPM in collaboration with Alumni Centre has successfully organised Workshop on Basal Stem Rot (BSR) of Oil Palm with objectives to create awareness on current development and status of Basal Stem Rot disease of oil palm, to provide a platform for participants to share and exchange ideas on detection and management of BSR and to promote development of multidisciplinary knowledge in the management of Basal Stem Rot.

Showcase Jalinan Alumni UPM @Zoo Taiping Siri II

TAIPING, 1 April 2018 – Alumni Centre and Zoo Taiping remain committed in organizing the Showcase Jalinan Alumni UPM @ Zoo Taiping and Night Safari as one of the community programmes to establish alumni-community relationships around Taiping, Perak. There were various activities and competitions have been successfully organised such as Fitness Dance, Treasure Hunt and Coloring Contests.

Temu Mesra Alumni Industri began since January 2017. The objectives of the programme is to:

Nurturing a continuous strategic relationship between UPM alumni and alma mater.
providing an avenue for alumni to giving back to the alma mater through the donation of student scholarship and financial assistance.
strengthening the spirit of belonging and foster a sense of pride among alumni to alma mater.
