"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you," Matthew 5:43-44 NKJV

Women in history that have stood and continue to stand firm against adversity as per:
Esther 4:14, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
Esther was a Jewish woman who became the Queen of Persia. She is one of the most beloved women of the Bible. Esther was the wife of Persian King Ahasuerus. After Haman plotted to kill all the Jews within the kingdom, Queen Esther risked her own life and asked the King to spare Jews living in the land. Although the Jewish queen was afraid, she was determined to take advantage of her God-given position. Her story is one of courage, faith, and trust in God that despite all odds, He will be the one to save us. The bravery of queen mother Esther not only saved her people from destruction, but also revealed Haman’s evil plot, which led to his execution instead.

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is yet another force to be reconned with, “For such a time as this!” She has purposefully made every decision with one goal in mind: protecting the civil liberties of those in underrepresented communities. As a public defender, civil rights attorney, State Representative, and United States Congresswoman, Jasmine Crockett dedicates her life to public service, with the goal of serving justice and ensuring equality for all.
Congresswoman Crockett earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Rhodes College and her J.D. from the University of Houston. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, Arkansas, and Federal Courts. Crockett is the past Bowie County Democratic Party Chair, held various leadership positions within the legal community, is a former board member of the Dallas County Metro care Services, and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Her passion for justice and the protection of peoples’ rights led her to pursue a career as a public defender, and civil rights and criminal defense attorney. She focused on defending our most vulnerable among us from exploitation in the criminal justice system. As she began her career in the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office, Congresswoman Crockett worked tirelessly to keep children safe and out of jail. Her time there serves as a reminder that criminal justice is an intersectional issue.(Intersectionality explains how people are often disadvantaged by multiple sources of oppression. “It allows people to understand each other a little bit better.”
In the 118th Congress, Congresswoman Crockett was elected as Freshman Leadership Representative, and in the 119th Congress she was appointed to the position of Vice Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight. She currently serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. She was also appointed as Communications Task Force Co-Chair for the Democratic Women’s Caucus.
Representative Jasmine Crockett, like many other courageous women is dedicated to the task that she has taken on herself and exhibits the same courage as Esther in Esther 4:16(B) which states, “…I will go unto the king…(as a black woman to speak truth to power)… “…and if I perish, I perish.”
Rep. Crockett’s actions thus far fall in line with the encouragement for all of us that Dr. King spoke to before his demise, He said, “The ultimate measure of a man(woman) is not where he (she) stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he(she) stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Congresswoman Crockett has indeed come to the seat of power in the United States of America for “such a time as this” 2025, and her actions are indicative that SHE’S NOT GOING BACK! Esther didn’t and neither will she!

As we continue our look at influential women of the Bible as part of our Women’s History month celebration….Meet Hannah, the wife of Elkanah and the mother of Samuel, who became a prominent prophet in ancient Israel.
When Hannah was childless, she turned to God for comfort. Hannah’s husband had two wives., His other wife, Peninnah had children; but, Hannah remained childless for a long time after her marriage and we learn that Peninnah cruelly taunted her.
But Hannah prayed to God for comfort and made a vow to Him in 1 Samuel 1:11 which reads…Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.
God answered Hannah’s prayer, and she gave birth to Samuel and she kept her promise to the Lord.1 Samuel 1:27, 28 says…
I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
I Samuel 2:21 goes on to share…And the Lord was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.
To God Be The Glory for Hannah. She didn't have it easy, but she pressed on through her trials with faith and perseverance. She reminds us to bring our brokenness to God. He already knows what we face, but He wants us to come to Him with prayer and supplication. May we seek the Lord with the same spirit as Hannah, knowing that He will not withhold any good thing from us if we seek Him with all our hearts.

Greetings to our Church family and friends!
We greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! On behalf of the Youth Ministry, we ask that you help and bless our Youth with a “unique” opportunity. With the help of the Lord, we will be traveling to Black Wall Street in Tulsa, OK, and the Little Rock Nine historic site in Little Rock, AR, during this spring break in early April 2025. It is OUR duty to teach OUR Youth OUR history because there are those out there who want to erase it! So, that’s where you can help us by participating in our in-house fundraising project “Count Your Blessings.” It’s very simple. All you have to do is take inventory of your house, count your many blessings, by following a list of household items worth a certain amount, tally it up, add it up and that is the amount you can donate OR if you would like to donate a flat amount, then we appreciate that too. Whatever God places on your heart to do, we are thankful for it. Please place your donation in an envelope and turn it in to one of the Youth Directors. We will accept cash, check and donations via our Church’s CashApp and Givelify App. We just ask that you notate your donation to a particular Youth member or to the Youth Ministry. Please ask any Youth for a form or you can pick them up at church.
Also, if you have a Youth who would like to join us in our service and mission, please let us know as our discipleship is ongoing and they are welcome any time!
We thank you in advance for sharing in this wonderful opportunity for our Youth and we ask for your continued love and support because remember, IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD! Thank you and God bless!
Yours in Christ,
Bro. Charles Happy & Sis. Heather Happy, Youth Directors
Rev. Wendell Emerson, Spiritual Leader
Bro. Desmond Duncan, Assistant Youth Director
Sis. Kellye Emerson, Assistant Youth Director

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
