More heart at Hardie...

We made an application recently for a new bike park and wow, just look what we've got! A heart shaped bike park funded by ParkThatBike Initiative. They are a small, highly professional consultancy specialising in cycle parking initiatives and specialise in the operation of schemes that provide secure and convenient cycle parking. We are really pleased with our heart shaped racks, a welcome addition at the entrance of the decking. Remember to bring your lock to keep cycles safe in the park .

Our Free Prize Draw Winner!

During our summer events programme we offered our cafe customers and park visitors the chance to enter our free prize draw for Afternoon Tea for 2 at the cafe.

Well thanks for taking part! The lucky winner Emma from Stanford-le-hope was drawn this week from over 150 entries. She had entered the draw whilst attending one of our many bounce days. We look forward to seeing her at the cafe soon.

If you would like to book an Afternoon tea the cost is £12.95 per person.

With Christmas coming soon it might also make a nice gift for someone? Gift vouchers available.

Cake donations welcome!

We're hosting our own coffee morning on Friday 28th September - 10am onwards to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support . Come on down to the park, it's buzzing on a Friday with our Gardeners, Shedders and Petanque crew meeting too. There will be tea, coffee, cake and a chat on offer. If you are a baker, or wish to donate any cakes for the event they would be gladly received nearer the date.

Volunteer recruitment at the Orsett Show

Thanks to everybody who took the time to speak to us at the Orsett Show this year. Our main purpose was to recruit and engage people with the concept of volunteering. We also managed to speak to hundreds of people about what our park has to offer. We can't wait to welcome new visitors over the coming year. Such a positive day and a great opportunity for us to tell the world about Hardie Park!

A couple of our new Orsett Show recruits, brother and sister Sam and Sophie have already completed their first shift over the weekend. What stars they are!

If you are interested in volunteering or maybe have a young person that would like to enhance their CV by learning new skills you can apply online here. If you prefer to call and discuss volunteering opportunities give our Volunteer Co-ordinator Pam a call on 07714 661888.

Reach out for Mental Health

Reach out for Mental Health's crisis cafe will open at Hardie Park on Wednesday 3rd October (evening). All of the details you'll need are on the flyer. CLICK the image for a larger version.  Please tell people about the service, anyone you're concerned about. Start a conversation. If you're worried, ask them if they're having suicidal thoughts. You won't put the idea in their head.  If you're having suicidal thoughts, tell someone, tell Reach Out, tell anyone. (Just to avoid any confusion, the service does not operate during cafe opening hours)

Getting all revved up for a re-furb of the cafe

Next time you visit the cafe you might notice a larger space. We haven't had an extension but a wall has been removed. What a difference!

Ideas are bouncing around re the design, watch this space for progress or pop in to the cafe and see for yourself.
