PHI Studio Projects on Tour
This groundbreaking experience transported audiences to the heart of space, offering an unprecedented immersion into the lives of astronauts aboard the International Space Station. With over half a million visitors to date, Space Explorers: THE INFINITE was presented in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Singapore, and China throughout 2024.
This poignant and intimate experience sparked profound reflections on civil rights and the lived experiences of the African American community. The VR experience opened in October in North Carolina and will continue to run through March.
Burn from Absence delves into themes of loss and memory through immersive storytelling. Developed during the PHI Immersive Residency with PHI Studio, Émeline Courcier’s work received a special mention for “Digital Storytelling” during its presentation at the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in November and was presented as part of the Tribeca Circle Incubator spotlight in New York last summer.
Horizon of Khufu transported audiences on a fascinating journey into Ancient Egypt, showcasing PHI’s expertise as a distributor of immersive experiences. With over 250,000 visitors in Montreal in 2024, the experience has also been presented in Calgary since December. This is the first large-scale work presented by PHI Studio as a distributor, solidifying its prominent position in the industry as both a producer and distributor.
PHI Foundation for Contemporary Art Projects on Tour
These two exhibitions, launched at the PHI Foundation earlier in 2024, explored themes of diasporic experiences. They are currently on display at Contemporary Calgary and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, respectively, and will continue through the spring.
In 2024, PHI cemented its position as a global leader by bridging art, technology, and audiences worldwide. We extend our gratitude to our partners and audiences for their continued support in this journey of inspiration and innovation.
A Preview of 2025
The year 2025 promises to be filled with exciting projects and diverse destinations for PHI. Here’s a glimpse at the projects already confirmed:
At the end of January, Space Explorers: THE INFINITE will kick off the year at the Midland Center for the Arts in Michigan.
In March, PHI Studio will be at the Luxembourg City Film Festival, marking the eighth consecutive year of curating and producing the Virtual Reality Pavilion.
Also in March, PHI Studio will unveil Blur, its new immersive work co-produced with Riverbed Theatre (Taiwan) and Onassis Culture (Greece), in a World Premiere at the National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei (Taiwan). Blur invites audiences to explore a world where technology meets humanity, prompting reflection on love, loss, and scientific ambition.
Scheduled for June at Espace Pauline-Julien in Trois-Rivières, we will present Composition by Studio AATOAA founded by Vincent Morisset.
Finally, in September, the exhibition by Rajni Perera and Marigold Santos: Efflorescence/The Way We Wake will be showcased at the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon.
With these exciting events already on the calendar, 2025 is shaping up to be a busy year. More destinations and projects will be announced soon.
