I'm all about options.
I spend most of my time either thinking "what if", or "how do I say this".
Decision Making
When I hit the couch to work on my knitting I'm tired of thinking big thoughts. I want specifics. This is when I want to follow a pattern, or only have to make easy choices.
This is part of why I have been working on Any Size. Any Gauge. patterns and Pattern Calculators.
More for Everyone
Part two is that I want everyone who wants to knit things from my patterns to be able to, but I really don't want to write patterns over and over again.
Each pattern is first conceived and written for a specific gauge of yarn in a particular stitch pattern. If that works for you, you can just follow along. If you have other preferences, choose your yarn, plug in the specified number to the Pattern Calculator, and voila! You get the numbers to write in the information needed for that pattern to work to Any Size. Any Gauge.
Even More for Everyone
I am thinking about bodies from the skeleton outward with all our individual shaping and padding. In order for this all to work properly, I am not making "generic" patterns. For each design I think of every detail, and the bodies that might wear it, and make specific design choices. So the project you knit will essentially be the same as the sample:
- curve of your armhole,
- the stitch patterns positioning relative to the body,
- design details.
You are guided through the process of creating a replica of what I designed, but you got to make your choices too!
