Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a Press Release announcing $20 billion across two grant competitions under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, an Inflation Reduction Act program that is part of President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda and environmental justice goals. These grant competitions seek to leverage private capital into clean technology projects to create jobs and lower energy costs for families, especially those in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
For the two grant competitions, $14 billion is allocated to the National Clean Investment Fund and $6 billion to the Clean Communities Investment Accelerator under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. EPA has indicated that at least 40% of the funds for the National Clean Investment Fund will be dedicated to low-income and disadvantaged communities, including those that are Tribal, rural, and communities with environmental justice and energy concerns. Additionally, Native Community Development Financial Institutions (Native CDFIs) are eligible entities to apply for the $6 billion Clean Communities Investment Accelerator. Following this historic announcement, EPA has also announced that it will be hosting a webinar to provide additional information on this $20 billion investment.
Details regarding the upcoming Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Webinar are as follows—
Webinar speakers include—
- Ike Irby, Special Assistant to the President and Chief Climate Advisor to the Vice President
