What a wonderful day that was
Townhill Open day

The building is FINALLY finished and on Saturday 14th September, Lawrie  McMenemy MBE officially opened Townhill Community Surgery.

We are extremely grateful to Lawrie and The Saints Foundation for making the open day possible.   Lawrie arrived much earlier than expected and stayed for a good 2 hours talking to folk, having his photo taken with people, signing old programmes, throwing wet sponges at the Docs in the Stocks (see Dr O'Shaughnessy and Dr Iles pictured below) and eating a rather fabulous Townhill logo cake made for us especially by one of our lovely patients.   You sure you're 83 Lawrie?!  Get in!

The weather was perfect.  A large number of people attended to enjoy the day.  The event had many community groups and their stalls, including: Solent Mind, Steps2Wellbeing, Timebank among others.  The Fire service came in force and even returned after being called to an emergency job!  Thanks boys.

The surgery tours proved very popular.  It was a great opportunity for the patients to ask questions and see what goes on behind the scenes.

Thank you to all the community groups, blood bikes and especially our amazing patients who baked cakes and ran the much needed refreshment stalls.

All money raised has gone toward the making of our soon-to-be sensory room.

Coming soon to the surgery...
A sensory / quiet room

Pictured is the door to what will soon become a quiet room for any anxious patients who would benefit from a peaceful space with sensory lighting and calming surroundings.

For some people, a trip to the doctors can be a stressful experience.  We are hoping that this dedicated room will help encourage nervous patients to relax while waiting or having their treatment.

Patient Survey
We recently handed out a survey to patients who came into the surgery to ask what additional services they would like to have available at the Townhill Community Surgery.

The number one issue on everyone's mind is mental health.  A large percentage of patients asked for more information on how to get help with many issues like: anxiety, depression, nervousness, fear, self-harm.  One patient even wrote that they needed help now, but they did not leave their name....please do get in touch again; we can help.

You are not on your own! Help is here.
