Summer Reads
I've been going through books like they're about to be outlawed! Most of the time, during the dreaded-day-job, I have an audiobook playing. My commute is sixty-five miles each way, sandwiched around another 150 - 200 miles of driving.
I probably shouldn't be complaining about the day job too much if I get to listen to all those great books though! So, from here on out, I'll refer to it as the sometimes okay day job. Or SODJ. It's a clumsy acronym, but it might grow on us. Seems about right.
Anyway, some of the books I've read and listened too are:
College of Shadows - Mark Wells This one was a lot of fun. Set on a college campus in England. Great characters and magical/mysterious tones.
After - Dr. Bruce Greyson A Psychologist's view of near-death-experiences. Very well backed up with personal stories of patients and his battle to be taken seriously by the scientific community. Excellent narration!
The Beautiful Dead - Belinda Bauer A TV reporter becomes the obsession of a serial killer. This one was another great listen. White knuckle action!
This is just a short list of some of the books I've gone through in the last few weeks. I'm a reading junkie in general, and I'm always looking for a new read when I'm not in the middle of writing something of my own.
Which is where you come in.
My "To Be Read" list , believe it or not, has gotten somewhat thin. I'm always looking for something new to read, but, like you, I really want to make it worth my while. If you could suggest something that recently just blew your socks off, I'd like to hear about it.
So help a starving reader out! Reply to this email, and hit me up with some of your most recent favs!
My full reviews of these books are on Bookbub. Follow me there to read my latest review. If I read a book from a recommendation spawned by this email, I'll give you a shoutout for it in my review! Of course, I wouldn't mention anyone that didn't want to be mentioned, so let me know in your reply.
