Profile in Leadership: James Frazier comes ‘home’ in new role as dean of FSU’s College of Fine Arts

More than 30 years ago, an undergraduate at Florida State University named James Frazier was running errands to and from the dean’s office of the College of Fine Arts, then the School of Visual Arts and Dance, as a work-study student. Today, Frazier occupies that same office, but as dean of the College of Fine Arts at FSU. National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association renames coach of the year award to honor Mike Martin

After capping off his legendary 40-year career as the winningest coach in college baseball history, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced on Tuesday that the annual award honoring the top Division I baseball coach will be renamed in Coach Mike Martin’s honor. Martin retired following the 2019 season, when he guided the Seminoles to the College World Series for a record-tying 17th time. Read more ...

Florida State receives 2020 Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement classification

Florida State is one of 119 U.S. colleges and universities to receive the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an elective designation that indicates institutional commitment to community engagement by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. FSU first achieved Community Engagement status in 2010. This year’s designation is a recertification of that status. Since 2010, the university has promoted responsible stewardship through both academic and non-academic means across campus. Read more ...
