Labor Day weekend is also our County Fair. I have so many great memories of this small, but action-packed venue, but we had to sit this one out given Paulā€™s knee and the uncertainty around the new Covid variants.

But post-Covid Kelly, who is feeling 100% and slightly invincible, was there every dayā€”for business and for fun and she shared some pics with me.

Friday night is discounted ā€œFamily Wrist Bandsā€ for the rides. I still remember the excitement of the carnival rides at our county fair many, many years agoā€”the scarier the better.

The Saturday night event is the Demolition Derby. You know, where people fix up old cars to wreck in a sort of mud-slinging bumpercar free-for-all! Kelly helped sponsor a young man who used to ride her bus when she drove for the school.

Sunday morning is the Team Roping, which included a lot of local guys who did good and won some serious buckles and saddles!

The Sunday evening Rodeo was a sold-out affair. Iā€™m happy for the athletes and spectators, but it was ungodly hot, so I canā€™t really say Iā€™m sorry I wasnā€™t there. And, alas, Kelly didnā€™t get any pics because sometimes you have to put fashion firstā€”her cool skirt didnā€™t have any pockets for a phone. šŸ˜‰ Maybe next year.

Last week's Q&A was: Have you read any Tule Publishing books? If your answer is YES, and youā€™d like one of my new bookmarks, include your snail mail address in your answer.

Wow! Thanks for all the smiles. I love readers!

And thank you, William, for including a photo of your Tule library. Iā€™m happy to see quite a few of my books there! Readers absolutely rock!!!

Knee surgery patient update: Paul has kicked (not literally) his walker to the curb and upgraded to a cane. His physical terrorist (friend and fellow knee replacement patient Ericā€™s name for his physical therapist šŸ˜‰) told Paul today that he is doing ā€œGreat.ā€ Heā€™s also starting to ween himself off the narcotics, which is happy news for me because refilling that prescription is a 3-hour roundtrip drive.

Happy reading, my friends.

Deb

Upcoming: hmmmā€¦we shall seeā€¦
