WorkSafeNB announced two significant measures that will directly benefit New Brunswick’s workplaces and its economy. The 2026 average assessment rate will remain at $1.10 per $100 of payroll, maintaining the lowest rate in New Brunswick’s history. 

Building on the positive news of maintaining the organization’s lowest average assessment rate, WorkSafeNB will also issue $53.2 million in performance refunds to eligible employers in New Brunswick. 

WorkSafeNB Performance Refunds will be distributed as follows:

• Employers receiving over $1,000 will receive a cheque by mail or courier.

• Employers receiving under $1,000 will see the amount credited to their WorkSafeNB account, offsetting your 2026 premiums.

To ensure a smooth process, we ask all employers to review and update their mailing information with WorkSafeNB as soon as possible. Accurate information is particularly important for those receiving cheques over $1,000.

WorkSafeNB announced the 2025 Safety Star Award recipients at their Health and Safety Conference held in Fredericton. The Safety Star Awards recognize individuals and organizations who are leaders in creating healthy and safe workplaces across New Brunswick.
