Speaking of building an inclusive and equitable community . . . we can't think of anyone who has done more over the past decades to do just that than outgoing United Way of Southern Chester County CEO Carrie Freeman (pictured here with UWSCC Office Manager Lisa Tucker at her "Sweet Celebrations" retirement celebration last week). We're enormously grateful to Carrie for the ways she has poured heart and soul into serving and leading and encouraging countless people during her time at UWSCC. We're excited to welcome incoming CEO Terry Vodery and wish Carrie all the best for her retirement. If you haven't had a chance already, we encourage you to honor Carrie with a gift to her favorite nonprofit!
Thank you to all who helped make Kennett Collaborative's August Third Thursday event such a success this week. We're not sure we should mention it, but we have enjoyed an unprecedented season of beautiful weather each Third Thursday since May! As you save dates for the fall (including How We Build Matters on September 22nd, Brewfest on October 1st, Clover Market on October 23rd, and of course every Friday at the KSQ Farmers Market), please also save the date (and make your outdoor dining reservations) for the next Third Thursday event on September 15th!
Thank you for reading and for continuing to support our community and local small businesses through every season.
We wish you a great week "Around the Square"!
Bo Wright, Executive Director
Kelli Prater, Community Engagement Manager
