Happy September! Embrace the upcoming season!

Earth, Wind and Fire - September

Hello ,

I cannot believe that it is September already. It feels like so much has happened in the past month, whilst at the same time, nothing has happened at all. August was really busy for me - my latest project at work was intense and high-stakes and I sat my final ever exam (hopefully) for my ACA qualification. So I'm currently on a short and much-needed break from work.  September is a good time, after the business of "summer", to recuperate and regroup.

My 3 year anniversary at work is coming up and life is getting very real. If my life was a television show, this would definitely mark the start of a new season. There are only a few months left of the year and I want to make the most of it, whilst recognising that this pandemic is not going anywhere. Anyway, let me know what your plans are for the rest of the year, and let's get through these next couple of months together!

Thank you,

2 months in Southeast Asia - the best trip ever!

So 3 years ago I backpacked around Southeast Asia and I had the most amazing time. As corona has me stuck in the UK, I've been reminiscing the time I spent in Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia. I decided to pull together my itinerary in this blog post.

Pen and paper - a dying art or winning combination?

Some people think that using pen and paper is outdated. I beg to differ. In this post, I discuss why I'm still in love with handwriting. The featured photo for this post is actually a sketch by my good friend sahasnik. Check her out on Instagram!

Ugochi Recommends

Each month, I hope to provide a personal recommendation and suggested conversation starter.

One for the reading list

I have not read a fiction book in a minute, but I recently picked up 'Love in Colour', an anthology of short romance stories, which was published last month by Bolu Babalola. Bolu has rewritten and revitalised some historic tales from Greece, West Africa and the Middle East. I'm only a few chapters in, but so far, so good.

Conversation Starter

I'm all for deep chats and conversations. This month's suggested conversation topic is seasonality. Do you believe that life has its own seasons, and if so, what season of your life do you think you are in now? Reply to this email and let me know! #UnpackwithUgochi

Words to Live By

This newsletter wouldn't be complete without some final inspirational words for you to take away.

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.

This is a powerful quote from Arthur Ashe. It's so easy to get distracted by what you can't do and what you don't have resulting in inaction. But whether you're on the tennis court like Arthur, or working on your next goal, this principle applies.
