The last several months have been a lot. It has been a time of regrouping and rethinking Leijah.
One of the things we realized while working with Ben was that Leijah.Art was trying to be too many things. It was a band, but it was also video production and Leah’s art.
In one particular conversation I (Elijah) had with one of our patrons, they mentioned that it has been difficult to describe what we are.
I know for Ben that was extremely confusing. He put a lot of work into the band side, but our marketing represented the two of us as if we were doing everything on our own… which was very untrue and unfair. Even though Ben is no longer a part of Leijah.Art, we feel his input was a really important note.
So, we have decided to restructure into 3 distinct projects:
Sound Magician: Music composed and performed by Elijah. Moving forward all past and future music releases will be released under the name Sound Magician. Sound Magician is a band, and will perform under that name.
Lu Collage: Analog artwork made by Leah. Originals or prints might be sold or displayed.
Leijah.Art: Video production company. When we started Leijah.Art, our main goal was to figure out how to merge our mediums. The music video Concepción was our first success, but we always knew it was preliminary. Evergreen finally started to realize what we had imagined, but didn’t know how to talk about, or explain. Using the art of Sound Magician and Lu Collage, we will continue to make music videos as a collaborative project. We also want to hire ourselves out to make videos for other bands/projects.
Ultimately, we’re not changing what we were doing, we’re just organizing it differently. Everything will still be funded under the same Leijah.Art Patreon page.
We are excited about the simplicity we are adopting, and sad about the end of an era.
