Can you believe it? In a handful of days my second book is coming out.
SECOND BOOK!
It's coming September 20th. Of this month!!!
Phew!
I have been seriously burning the laptop at both ends working through the process of publishing again this year. (I also do not suggest burning a laptop at both ends, it hurts your hands and your saved files.)
The book is called Simply Protocol. It's a slow burn love story between two characters who never once did what I told them to do.
For me, when I get an idea and I start writing, I normally have a stained cocktail napkin somewhere with the basic idea of the book I'm going to write that I use as a guide. (Actually, if I'm being honest, I also have a lot of receipts that have story outlines on them. And brochures. Not that I'm out drinking and going to amazing destinations that require a brochure...but those are normally the things that I have available to write on. Why don't I have a little notebook to write in when the times comes? I do. I have five little notebooks. I can just never find them when I need them. Or maybe, you'd like to point out that I could be using the 'note' function of my cell phone. To which I'd like to reply, "Why don't YOU use your note function!!!!?")
We are getting way off track here. Why are we arguing?
Okay, the main characters in Simply Protocol are Cassie Dodd (Jessica Dodd's older sister. Who is Jessica? The heroine from my book Big Trouble in Little Italy) and Agent Benjamin Stills.
I sat down with Cassie and Benji when I began to write their story and explained how everything was going to go. (Meaning: I showed them the napkin with their story.)
Those two went 'off-script' by chapter two!
And I was surprised by the fun story they told. And I'm so excited to share it with you.
