Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing its accepting Letters of Intent to be considered for the Tiwahe Initiative until December 31, 2022. The Tiwahe Program was created in 2015 as a pilot program to support Tribal Nations and Tribal organizations by providing increased flexibility in the administration of Tribal programs focused on cultural retention, economic self-determination, social services, the Indian Child Welfare Act, and Tribal courts. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 authorized an additional $1 million to expand the Tiwahe Initiative to additional Tribal Nations and Tribal organizations.
