After intensive piloting of instruments and field procedures, the Bauchi core team have begun work in survey communities in Toro Local Government Area (LGA). In July, they trained the local field team for Jama’a ward and conducted the survey in 10 randomly selected communities. Many Jama’a communities are very rural - small, remote, and hard to reach.
The current rainy season made access even more difficult. To reach communities, the field teams had to use local motorcycle transport followed by trekking on foot for several kilometres, crossing small rivers on the way. Despite these challenges, the mainly women field teams remained in high spirits and worked hard to visit and cover all the communities!
The Bauchi core team have now trained the local field team in the second ward and they have already started their fieldwork. Well done, all!
