From Jan 10, 2026 to Jan 10, 2027, the Church marks a special Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death. During this Jubilee Year, the faithful are invited to live the Franciscan spirit through prayer, pilgrimage, charity, and humble service.
Pope Leo’s Prayer for the Jubilee Year of St. Francis:
Saint Francis, our brother, you who eight hundred years ago went to meet Sister Death as a man at peace, intercede for us before the Lord.
You recognized true peace in the Crucifix of San Damiano, teach us to seek in Him the source of all reconciliation that breaks down every wall. You who, unarmed, crossed the lines of war and misunderstanding, give us the courage to build bridges where the world raises up boundaries.
In this time afflicted by conflict and division, intercede for us so that we may become peacemakers: unarmed and disarming witnesses of the peace that comes from Christ. Amen.

|
In the charity of your prayers, please pray for the repose of the soul of Deacon John Hagan, who passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 at the age of 98. Deacon John was part of the first group of permanent deacons ordained in the Diocese of Calgary in 2002. He served St. Luke’s Parish with a gentle heart and remained dedicated to ministry as a way of life until his passing.

Dawn and Clayton MacArthur entered the Diocese of Calgary’s Sacred Grace initiative seeking a convalidation of their marriage. What they found instead was a renewal. Through preparation, prayer, and a shared celebration with other couples, their nine-year marriage was rekindled, their faith deepened, and their family drawn more fully into the life of the Church.
