Project Hermine - A manufacturer in the EV industry is seeking rail-served acreage. Sites were submitted to Intersect Illinois, and a visit to a site in Grundy County was conducted in late March. To date, the Grundy County site remains under consideration.
Project Deposito - A company operating in the equipment sector is seeking an existing facility in the US where they can receive parts, assemble their products, and ship to clients. A building in Grundy County was submitted to Intersect Illinois.
Project Loop - A foreign plastics recycling company conducting a site search across seven states will visit a Grundy County site in April.
Holiday Inn Express, Minooka - A Chicagoland hotel developer has land under contract for a 100-110 room hotel along Grainger Way.
Multiple prospects are considering hydrogen production in the region. Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will invest up to $8 billion in a national clean hydrogen network through regional hubs. The submission deadline for regional hydrogen hub proposals was April 7, and the DOE is expected to select funded projects in the fall of 2023. Interest in industrial-scale solar developments across the County continues, with multiple projects at various stages in the process.
Prospect activity continues surrounding the Brisbin Road/I-80 Interchange, the Route 6 Corridor, and Coal City's Inland Rail Park, with various developers and end users considering projects in these areas.
Intersect Illinois is evaluating sites across the state for their Vetted Sites program which will identify and proactively market locations that are "ready to go" for impactful industrial development. To date, one Grundy County site has been chosen for inclusion in the program.
