Due to the increase of robberies within the River Passage, Guayaquil, Ecuador the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre have released a general warning to all vessels planning to enter this area. Robbers have targeted vessels that have been under pilotage with the aim to steal cargo from containers. There have been reports that the robbers have been armed and have fired their weapons. All vessels must maintain a strict Anti-Piracy Watch and any suspicious activity witnessed must be reported to the local authorities.
