Late and Worked Overtime - Update 1

QUESTION

Hi fellow HR peers,

If an employee is late for 2 hours on a working day, and on the same day, he worked 3 hours of overtime. Should I knock off his late hours against his overtime hours = pay 1 hour OT?

Or, I should deduct 2 hours undertime and pay 3 hours overtime? Thanks for your advise.

To avoid any misunderstanding in the future and proper records, I would deduct the lateness and pay the O/T for the hours worked.

We do not allow very latecomers to claim OT. Exception is only when the reason for latecoming is valid eg. jetlag or work till very late-OT on the night before.
