Last year. we hosted the NomadMania Travel Awards in a very interesting way by integrating it with the UN Masters Weekend, which gathered over 70 people who have visited every country on Earth under one (digital) roof.

You can watch the recordings here: Day 1 / Day 2.

As all the winners have now received their trophies — and some have even shared their photos — this is a great moment to explain how we are planning to run the Awards this year.

In December last year, NomadMania rolled out a system that allows you to precisely track your trips by entering exact dates for each visited region.

We now have highly accurate data that feeds into transparent statistics.

This will form the main foundation for the Travel Awards 2026.

Read all the details about the "new format" in this article.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 25th in Bangkok during the Extraordinary Travel Festival, something not to be missed.

We will start actively preparing for the NomadMania Travel Awards in the second half of the year, after conducting our Conference #6 in Brazil.

First Map Changes with New Regions

Last week, we announced the first batch of countries where regional changes were approved through community voting. We are happy to announce that these changes have now been implemented.

The new regions are:

These regions were primarily derived from the existing ones, and if you had visited one of the original regions, a largely corresponding new region was automatically assigned to you. Please verify and amend this if needed.

The only country experiencing a dramatic changes is Nepal where we completely redesigned regional division based on the geography.

New four regions of Nepal are:

  1. Nepal – Midlands East (Kathmandu)
  2. Nepal – Midlands West (Pokhara)
  3. Nepal – Himalayas (Nache, Mustang)
  4. Nepal – Terai Plains (Biratnagar, Lumbini, Nepalganj)

Please check your Nepal entries and correct if needed.

NomadMania will not implement any regional changes in Syria at this time due to active political changes on the ground. The situation will continue to be monitored and we hope to reach a final decision in the next few months.

Your feedback is welcome! This is our first batch of changes, and we are testing the system to make the transition as smooth as possible.

We apologize for any possible inconveniences. If you notice any inconsistencies with regions, rankings, or other related data, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Community Input and Local Events

As you may know, with the Regional Change Project we heavily rely on community input. It’s therefore fantastic to see that many members of NomadMania have started organising local meetings — both to discuss the proposed regional changes in their countries and simply to spend time together with fellow travellers.

You can check out the full list of meetings here.

If you would like to contribute, you are also very welcome to host your own local eventSee how to do it here.

Delhi / Buenos Aires / Kuwait / Nairobi

For those who want to better understand how everything works, we recommend reviewing the Roadmap for the Regions Review Process.

Your feedback and insights are extremely valuable for making this project as accurate and fair as possible, and we are looking forward to your input 🙂
