Freedom in the Bible means to be set free from bondage. As we conclude our look at biblical freedom this month, here are a few more scriptures to help us meditate on what freedom really means..
Psalm 118:5 explains, “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”
As we look at Bible verses about freedom, we see that salvation makes us free! Through our belief in Christ, we’re given…
- Freedom to walk with God throughout life. 2 Corinthians 6:16 says, “…For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they will be my people.”
- Freedom to authentically love others. 1 John 4:7 advises, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God”.
- Freedom to live out God’s purposes in your life. Ephesians 2:10 instructs, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.
- Freedom to enter the gates of heaven. John 14:2-3 promises, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also”.
To God Be The Glory for freedom found through a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Throughout the Bible, God’s Word points to freedom in Christ. The best life is one that is devoted to honoring Him. Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.“
