Recipes
Spring Chicken Pie
Bring a taste of spring to a
comforting chicken pie by inviting plenty of fresh herbs and a smattering of
briny, tangy capers to the puff pastry-topped party.
The filling (which makes good use of leftover roast chicken) can be made up to
24 hours in advance of baking your pie; allow it to cool down completely before
storing in a sealed container in the fridge until you’re ready to roll.

Catnip
The first volume of Catnip is the bestselling title in Broccoli’s burgeoning stable of off-kilter but very accessible publications. Volume 2 is just out and it’s even more entertaining and interestingly strange. If you don’t know this singular cat magazine, it blends stories, visual art, cat reporting and cat people. This issue digs into why we want to talk to cats, the working cats of London, the obsessions of Louis Wain and how kittens see the world as imagined by Ursula K. Le Guin, plus lost cat posters with happy endings, the world’s foremost collector of Siamese cat objects, the true story behind Why Cats Paint, online cat dialects, ancient Chinese cat contracts, the mysteries of toe beans, how cats get their names, Antarctic feline explorers and much more.

Artists
Artist and printmaker Karen Keogh explores landscapes and cityscapes using three plate colour etching using a combination of warm and cool colours. Roger Harris' mezzotints are created on copper plates that he hand-rocks with a tool called a mezzotint rocker. In some lights, his drawn images ‘appear and disappear’, giving a mystery to his work.
Ceramicists
Gilly Whittington’s work is in several UK galleries, and she exhibits widely at ceramic shows. She has also had work shown in French pottery markets and exhibitions. Katie Sargent is a UK-based ceramic artist working with hand-built stoneware forms. Based in Wiltshire, her practice sits comfortably between rural studio making and the quiet, material-led gallery contexts of Bath.
Featured Jewellers
Rachel Eardley meticulously hand cuts designs from obsolete coins from around the world and sets them in silver. Each item of jewellery comes in its own unique box, illustrated by Rachel with the coin’s design, date & origin. Helen Noakes is widely recognised in the jewellery community for her beautifully executed work in resin and silver. Integral to each piece is an element of surprise and humour.

The Unsettled Mind: psychoanalysis in the age of anxiety. 16 April, 7:30 - 9:00 pm A new series of talks at BRLSI.
A brand-new talk series at Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution: The Unsettled Mind: psychoanalysis in the age of anxiety launches this week with psychoanalyst Andrew Jamieson exploring the internal world of some of the world’s highest profile artists and thinkers. Personalities under discussion include Picasso, Virginia Woolf, Nelson Mandela and Cary Grant whose respective biographies are used as a prism through which to explore key psychoanalytic concepts.
Investigating what psychoanalysis can tell us about leadership, creativity, and the challenging times in which we live, Thursday’s talk sets the standard for what promises to be a great series.

The Managing Directors of the Athenian and Amazonian factories look to mark their marriage and the merger of their two companies with a night of celebration. A group of factory workers (rude mechanicals) rehearse their play for this very night. Four lovers steal away to escape the judgement of their overbearing elders. All the while, the King and Queen of fairyland fight for control in the surrounding streets. Bath Drama presents this fun reimagining of Shakespeare’s most fantastical works, full of fairies, romance, magic, comedy and mayhem. transposed from the medieval Athens and the surrounding forest to a 1980s factory and the dark, winding streets.

From our Homes, Interiors & Gardens Spring/Summer 2026 Guide
No17 Interiors
No17 Interiors specialises in bespoke interiors for show homes, hotels and private residences. With a background in fashion and textiles, Lisa began working with a textile artist before joining a small interiors company. After relocating to Bath, she managed a successful interiors business for many years, before launching her own. Work ranges from custom-made window treatments, headboards and soft furnishings to full interior design services and installations, with each design carefully tailored to each brief and budget. The design process begins with an initial visit to discuss the project in detail, taking time to understand the client’s style, budget and preferences. From there Lisa develops furnishing concepts, sources samples and provides pricing – carefully incorporating the client’s vision and with the aim of exceeding expectations at every stage. “Working in interiors allows me to bring together my passion for fabrics and eye for design to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. I love that no two projects are ever the same. Whether it’s enhancing a single room or transforming an entire home, I enjoy the challenge of turning tired interiors into beautiful, uplifting spaces. There’s real satisfaction in bringing a client’s vision to life and making the entire journey a smooth and rewarding experience.”
