ICYMI: ON A RECENT TWITTER POST, PROFESSOR NILS MELZER STANDS UP TO THE US SECRETARY OF STATE ON TORTURE
In case you missed it, Professor Nils Melzer stood up to the US Secretary of State on Twitter recently in regards to torture.
Secretary Antony Blinken@SecBlinkenUnited States government official · June 26: On #InternationalDayAgainstTorture, we recognize the bravery and humanity of victims and survivors of torture around the world. We will not waver in our commitment to condemn and eliminate torture, promote accountability for perpetrators, and support victims in their healing.
Professor Nils Melzer:
With all due respect, @SecBlinken, Sir, but your hypocrisy is an insult to all victims of #US-sponsored #torture, none of whom have ever received justice. On #TortureVictimsDay, which means so much to so many of us, either start walking the talk or else please just keep silent.
Professor Melzer has opened a door. I feel that all who can or will should respond in support of his statement. This is way more important than the Bioethics Commission ever was.
I have also been scouring the UN site for the schedule of speakers so that we'll know when Professor Melzer will be speaking during the conference, however, I've not found this listed. If someone finds this information, please let me know.

MOVIE REVIEW - 'A Scanner Darkly'
Hi,
Recently, I bought the movie "A Scanner Darkly" from 2006 with Keanu Reeves and Woody Harrelson. This movie is about surveillance abuse. A scanner is a government agent who watches someone 24/7. Darkly means that it’s illegal. 20% of the population is addicted to substance D, which is derived from a blue flower. The government uses infiltrators to find out where they grow these flowers.
The movie is based on the novel with the same name by Philip Dick. In the extra’s on the DVD, he says that he wrote the novel because he experienced break-ins. They went through his documents and they stole his documents and this happened frequently. His lawyer said that it’s the government.
He’s clearly a targeted individual. He also made a TV series with the name "Electric Dreams". This name suggests that he’s aware of electronic harassment.
Bye, Cliff
TI REALITY TV SERIES STARTING
John Gonzales in Arizona has come up with this idea of a TI TV series. In speaking to him about this, we have decided that a reality-type of TV show may be interesting. And so far we have received positive feedback from this idea.
It would be a way for people to come to understand the plight of TI's if they were brought into our daily lives and experiences, such as a reality-TV format which would highlight the day-to-day struggles of being targeted.
