FSU’s CARE receives $1.4M grant to help high school students get college-ready

Florida State University’s Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement, or CARE, has been awarded $1.4 million from the U.S. Department of Education to broaden a program that helps prepare high school students for college. CARE received the funding to start a new Upward Bound program in Suwannee and Hamilton counties, with a focus on math and science. Read more ...

FSU center works to combat youth opioid use in rural counties of southeastern states

A $1.3 million grant will fund a Florida State University College of Social Work project that aims to combat the opioid epidemic across eight southeastern states. The two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will go to FSU’s Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families and Children (CFC Center) and will target youths in 168 rural counties. FSU School of Dance to present an evening of ‘incredible athleticism and artistry’

FSU's School of Dance will present “An Evening of Dance,” an annual event to showcase the inventive choreography and diverse performance talent of the university’s students and faculty. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4-5 in the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre in Montgomery Hall. Read more ...

FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice partners with Leon County Sheriff’s Office to reduce violent crime

Local efforts to fight violent crime got a boost from a $1.5 million federal grant that will help fund a new partnership between the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
