Black History Month 2021 Jack Johnson Exhibit February is Black History Month. There is a very important event coming to the Pottsville area that pays tribute to the first African-American Heavyweight Champion, Jack Johnson, and local heroes. Jack Johnson, "The Galveston Giant", was champion from 1908-1915 and his bout against Jim Jeffries on July 4, 1910 was dubbed "The Fight Of The Century." The Jack Johnson Exhibit Tour will be in two locations on Saturday, February 27, 2021. The exhibit start at the Majestic Theater located at 209 N.Center St. Postville Pa. The exhibit has partnered with Pottsville Soup Kitchen, a local 501(3)c, to hand out meals to the community. Doors open 12:00 to 3:00, meals will be handed out for one hour and the event will include exhibit, speakers, and entertainment by local group, Fajjr + Ali. The exhibit then will move to Fighter's Heaven, formerly Muhammad Ali Training Camp, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for prayer and interfaith dialogue.
