Dear Members,
As we’re sure you’re aware, we’re on strike.
You and your colleagues gave us a clear mandate to fight for what you need and deserve.
Your elected bargaining team did not make this decision lightly and remains committed to getting a deal that doesn’t push you and your colleagues further into poverty.
As Sunday evening wore into Monday’s wee hours, and with all of Carleton’s powerful people in the room, your elected bargaining team sent an important message with a genuine question: “Our members are starving; what is the best offer you can make?” The people in that room refused to give us an answer. They chose this instead.
We saw many of you on the line yesterday and are hopeful that this show of strength and solidarity will push the University to rethink that decision.
Your bargaining team remains on standby to get back to the table and continue negotiations. In the meantime, we’ll see you on the line!
Yours in Solidarity, The Unit 1 Bargaining Team
Sloane Mulligan, Unit 1 Lead Negotiator Noreen Cauley-Le Fevre, President Sarah Fiander, VP Internal Zoë Abernethy, VP Unit 1 Davide Ventrone, VP External Ewen Cameron, TA and Member Mobilizer Ariel Becherer, Bargaining Team Member Codie Fortin Lalonde, Acting Business Agent and Organizer
