Network's presence at various events

Middle East Energy (MEE), Intersolar, and ees, are joining hands to co-deliver an outstanding renewables and energy storage event at Middle East Energy. 

The Intersolar Middle East Conference is taking place in Dubai, at the Dubai World Trade Center on March 7-9, 2022. 

Frank Wouters, Network's Director will moderate the session “The MENA Green Hydrogen Opportunity” organised within the thematic area Green Hydrogen: Tech Up-Date - Producing, Transporting, Distributing, Using.

The International Collaboration & Strategy Forum is taking place in Dubai, UAE on March 15-16, 2022. Frank Wouters, Network's Director and Chair of the MENA Hydrogen Alliance, an initiative supported by the Network, will be co-hosting the Forum. 

KAPSARC is organising on March 17, 2022 at the Dubai Exhibition Center, Expo 2020 Dubai the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) Index – Regional Launch and Workshop. The Network will be present at the event through its Director Frank Wouters who participates as a workshop speaker. 

On Friday 25 March 2022, the Women Entrepreneurship Platform is organising the event Sustainable Economies under the Lense of Female Entrepreneurs, hosted at the Sweden Pavilion, Expo 2020, Dubai. 
The Network is among the supporting organisation of the event. 

The hybrid event Decarbonisation through the Circular Economy: The Role and Potential of Carbon Pricing is taking place on March 28, 2022. The event, co-organised by the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC),  AEON, and the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network, will discuss the role and potential of carbon pricing policies and measures in the circular economy toolbox to drive decarbonisation at scale. It will showcase examples of leadership in the region, existing and future opportunities, as well as challenges that may arise, in the face of decarbonisation efforts in the context of the circular carbon economy and climate measures and its long-term effects on economic and social development.

The GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) organise the Energy Storage Forum within the frame of Expo 2020, Dubai on 28-30 March 2021. This forum looks to explore the growing role of grid-scale energy storage in enabling the effective utilisation of renewable energy resources to achieve the region’s objectives towards a sustainable and decarbonised power sector. 

EU GCC Clean Energy Technology Network is partnering with the event, organising and coordinating a session on hydrogen storage, and bringing in the EU experience and perspective.
Frank Wouters, Network Director, participates as a speaker at the session EU GCC - Application of Hydrogen. Nick Carter, Network's Convener will also participate as a speaker at the Forum.

Solar Energy Future MENA 2022 is a strategic insights learning and business networking platform that celebrates the MENA region’s unprecedented solar potential in both utility and C&I scale, as well as the region’s ambitious energy transition target as a whole.

The 2-day conference delivers the most topical discussion and encompassing strategies including all stages of solar plants development in the MENA region. 

Dr. Mustapha Taoumi, Network's Clean Energy Key Expert will moderate the Scaling Up the Deployment of Rooftop Solar in MENA Region session on March 31st, 2022. In addition, Dr. Mustapha Taoumi will also participate in the session Key Consideration for Risk Mitigation When Developing/Operating Solar Assets

EU Taxonomy: Commission presents Complementary Climate Delegated Act to accelerate decarbonisation.

The European Commission has presented a Taxonomy Complementary Climate Delegated Act on climate change mitigation and adaptation covering certain gas and nuclear activities. The College of Commissioners reached a political agreement on the text, which will be formally adopted once translations are available in all EU languages. Download the report.

New energy statistics 2022 to support the Green Deal 

The European Commission has adopted the most encompassing amendment of the energy statistics regulation ever conducted. The aim is to support even further the European Green Deal. This amendment, which will enter into force in February, will provide statistics to monitor a number of policy initiatives to decarbonise the European economy, including the Energy Union and the Fit for 55 package, as well as the Hydrogen Strategy and the Initiative on Batteries. Best practices and assessment of regulatory measures for cost-efficient integration of electric vehicles into the electricity grid.

The main objective of this study is to identify the remaining technical and regulatory barriers to the development of smart charging, taking into account the needs of various stakeholders, and to propose and evaluate possible legislative and non-legislative policy measures addressing these barriers. EU invests over € 1 billion in energy infrastructure in support of the Green Deal

EU countries have agreed on a Commission proposal to invest € 1.037 billion in 5 cross-border infrastructure projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for trans-European energy networks. CEF will provide financial support to 4 projects for construction and 1 study. The largest amount of funding will go to the EuroAsia interconnector project (€ 657 million) to support the first electricity interconnection between Cyprus and the European grid. Read the news

METIS study on costs and benefits of a pan-European hydrogen infrastructure.

The study was prepared in assistance to the impact assessment for designing a regulatory framework for hydrogen in the context of the revision of the EU Gas Market Directive (2009/73/EC). The analysis has for objective to provide the quantitative evaluation of scenarios and related sensitivities which shall reflect a set of policy options under discussion for the hydrogen framework. Download the study.
