The non-profit Presenting AfroClasical Composers began Aug 2018, with the mission of increasing the knowledge and appreciation of legacy and living composers of the African Diaspora through live performances of their compositions…
The mission is still clear.
So, these developments offer promise that things could change for the better. As you look around, do you see the change on stage, in books, in concert programming?
Meanwhile, Presenting…’s work is timely. We enjoyed an entertaining and successful 17 Dec 22 inaugural, in-person event in Koreatown of LA, at a venue designed by famed architect.
Available funding covered most of the event’s cost. Your continued funding will help cover cost of editing a video of the event and offer stipend to our guest panelist/artist. And yes, the Presenting… staff and I actively apply for grants to support the mission.
We invite your monthly tax-deductible donations to help change lives. Imagine the effect of young students seeing themselves on stage playing works by people who look like them, and reading about those composers in school texts. Imagine all young students and adults seeing themselves in orchestras and hearing/playing music by the diverse composers whose brilliant works have been around since classical music’s beginnings.
Thank you!
