Professional Development: Stakeholder Management

Professional development is at the core of GDi's theory of building leaders for social sector. Recently, we had a workshop on "Stakeholder Management" facilitated by "Aditya Minocha" a Leadership and Executive Coach working in the domain of self-awareness, emotional intelligence and personal effectiveness.

The focus of this one-day workshop was to deeply understand the nuances and journey of stakeholders we meet and interact with to drive the decision-making. The full day workshop was a mix of self reflection, team activities and knowledge

Green Delhi Mission: Winter
Action Plan

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced a 15-point Winter Action Plan to tackle air pollution in the national capital. The plan builds upon the steps taken last year by utilizing the Green War Room to monitor action taken by inspection teams and complaints on the Green Delhi App. Additionally, this year, Delhi Government is bringing in a novel “No PUC, No Fuel” policy, an ambitious citizen volunteering initiative "Paryavaran Mitra", as well as a state-of-the-art real time source apportionment study which will help understand sources of Delhi's pollution as well as forecast air quality.

GDi is helping the Environment Department of Delhi Government design and implement several key initiatives out of the 15-point action plan.

Mission Buniyaad: Scale up launch

On 5th September, Teachers' Day, the Hon. Education Minister of Rajasthan, Dr B. D. Kalla launched the country’s largest state-wide PAL (Personalized and Adaptive Learning) education program in public school, Mission Buniyaad, in the presence of all senior officials.

We are delighted to announce that Mission Buniyaad will be scaled up to all 33 districts in Rajasthan impacting more than 2 million students (with more than 50% girl students). Owing to a greater than 20% increase in learning outcomes for ~25,000 girls across 6 pilot districts, the Rajasthan government has decided to implement it state-wide.

Mission Buniyaad is a uniquely designed program that focuses on making the existing ICT infrastructure in public schools functional along with establishing new ICT labs.

GDi is the strategic and program management partner for Govt of Rajasthan along with Convegenuis and Piramal Foundation to implement this program.

What is new at GDi?

Meet Pranjal!

Pranjal Kothawade joins GDi with experience in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India. During her tenure at the Ministry, she monitored and evaluated the performance of grant-in-aid institutions across India. She worked on multiple projects including social audit of MGNREGA, policy design for senior citizens and marginalised communities, and supported implementation of MoSJE schemes in Maharashtra.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Urban Policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai and a graduate degree in Planning from College of Engineering, Pune. In college, she interned with Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, and AIILSG Mumbai and worked on diverse projects spanning infrastructure planning, green financing, capacity building and democratic decentralization.

Her passion to solve complex governance problems and create impact brings her to GDi Partners. She aims to leverage her experience to improve the human development indicators and promote citizen-centric policies.

In her free time, Pranjal likes to travel and explore new places, and solve sudoku puzzles.

Meet Pragya!

Pragya holds an MPP degree from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and Bachelor's in Sociology from Lady Shriram College for Women, Delhi University. She has an academic experience in qualitative and quantitative research. Her undergrad dissertation research has explored themes of trade practices of Gujaratis settled in cochin for centuries and their contribution to the spice trade the state is known for. Her Master's Dissertation focused on the issue of drowning from a public health perspective by looking at the association of drowning with WASH factors and exploring data gaps.

Previously, Pragya interned at the Centre for legislative research and advocacy and has also worked as a research consultant at YP foundation where she created adolescent health policy and program mapping resources for SYAN (WHO-supported regional network).

Pragya likes reading, cooking, and binging on thriller crime shows in her spare time. She also likes traveling and exploring new interests and activities through it.

A deep interest in the governance sector and motivation to bring about systematic and sustainable change is what brings Pragya to GDi partners. She intends to leverage her academic grounding and hands-on experience in research and policy issues to create a more significant impact.

The article talks about the area of enhancements to prepare youth for the future of work.

Easing contracting frictions with machines: Evidence from Karnataka

Based on a field experiment among 7,000 farmers in Karnataka, this article shows that mechanisation lowers supervision needs for hired workers in stages of production other than the one being mechanised, and family workers freed from those tasks engage in non-agricultural activities.
