Does anybody else kind of feel like they went to start the car last week to get moving on the year, and not only would it not start, but it also burst into flames?
Well, this week's edition of This Week in Blogging is our attempt to perhaps put some of those flames out.
And, outlandish metaphors aside, we feel if we can in any way help foster discussion and offer insight as it relates to mental health and wellness in our industry, that's a goal worth striving for.
Prioritizing Wellness, One Day at a Time
Often times in the blogging world, wellness is something we try to fit in, "right after we've finished this article."
The truth is, if we don't take care of ourselves, we aren't going to be doing our best work anyhow. Plus, as we've talked about before, blogger burnout doesn't exactly wait until you've finished the next article. It strikes, and then you go into recovery mode, and cross your fingers that your brain might be useful again down the line.
Especially in the coming year, we need to be proactive about wellness, so we tried to put together something that might help spark an idea or two for you to put into action and benefit you.
We've also got another article below the news to talk about some productive activities that you can do for your site if you're just not in the mood to write.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've likely read the news coming out of Washington, DC last week. The events led to soon-to-be-former President Trump being banned on many social networks and the social network Parler being effectively shut down. This is a timely reminder that while you may have free speech in the USA, you are not free from consequences based on your actions- online or otherwise. We'll all do well to remember that.
Every now and again we simply become burnt out on writing. We've all been there, it happens, and there is nothing wrong about that in the slightest.
While it can be quite difficult to put the proverbial pen to paper to write yet-another blog post when this happens, there are a number of back-end tasks you can shift to that hardly involve writing at all!
In this one, we share five of our favorite blogging activities you may want to consider the next time burnout hits you.
That's it for the week! Check your inbox next week for another update from This Week in Blogging.
