“So, how did the race go?” I asked. “Did one of you prove to be the better swimmer than your friend?”
Nash and Carter both glanced at each other. After exchanging a look I didn’t understand, Carter said, “The results were inconclusive.”
Nash lifted his glass to his lips, appearing like he was trying to hide a smirk behind it.
Okay, I think I understand what’s going on here. Two egos might have just been a little bruised by the competition.
I raised an eyebrow. “Would it be more accurate to say that the results of your race were inconclusive because Asher finished first?”
Nash sent a furtive glance to Carter, and with a shrug, he said, “It’s hard to tell.”
I chuckled. “I bet.”
