Workshop & Training: Energy Efficiency: A Key driver for Clean Energy Transition (focus on cooling technologies), Doha, Qatar
The Network invites you at the two-day event "Energy Efficiency: A Key Driver For Clean Energy Transition" organised in partnership with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). The event is scheduled for 3-4 May 2017 at the QNRF’s Events Hall, at the Tornado Tower in Doha, Qatar.
The aim of the event is to foster partnerships by bringing together high-level stakeholders from the EU and the GCC to discuss Energy Efficiency and Cooling Technologies suitable for the region, exchange best practices and lesson learned and advance collaboration between EU and GCC actors. The two-day event includes a number of workshops, experts’ networking, and training sessions. The draft agenda is released and available at the event’s webpage.

The first UAE GCC-Cigre - EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network event in Abu Dhabi, UAE
The GCC-Cigre study committee “System Performance Development and Renewable Energy” in collaboration with the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network are organizing the first UAE GCC-Cigre - EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network event to be held on 9 May 2017, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, at TRANSCO premises. The event is in line with the GCC-Cigre efforts to promote the research on the system performance development and effective utilization of renewable energy sources in GCC Countries.
Novel approaches and planning tools for developing energy management systems, dynamic reactive power planning for transmission systems and optimal planning of renewable energy integration in smart distribution networks, will be presented by world-class professors and Masdar Institute researchers. Dr. Haris Doukas, Network’s Research Collaboration Specialist will deliver the “From Data Analytics to Energy Management Action Plans: An Application for the Built Environment” technical presentation. Workshop & Training: “GCC Solar Photovoltaic Testing Centres Network”, Dubai UAE with DEWA
The EU-GCC Clean Energy Network, in cooperation with DEWA and other EU and GCC entities, are organising an inception meeting and training workshop on “GCC Solar Photovoltaic Testing Centres Network”, which will take place on 15-16 May 2017 in Dubai, UAE. The aim of the inception meeting is to agree on the formation of the GCC PV Testing Labs network and also develop a consensus on its aims, objectives, and organisation. The agenda of the workshop will be announced soon through the event’s webpage.

Workshop: Electricity Interconnections and Trading for Growth and Efficiency, Manama, Bahrain
The Network invites you at the two day workshop "Electricity Interconnections and Trading for Growth and Efficiency" organised in partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCC IA). The event is scheduled to take place on 21-22 May 2017 in Manama, Bahrain.
The workshop aims to examine the relationship between transmission network integration and market trading especially for the utilisation of renewables and the optimisation of generation despatch. It intends to elicit the views of various stakeholders on the actions that would be of greatest value for the Gulf region. It is also an opportunity for policy makers and technical experts from GCC and EU Countries to learn from each other in supporting, deploying, and implementing large scale Renewable Energy projects.

The Network supports the MENA New Energy 2017 Conference in Dubai, UAE
The EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network is among the supporting partners of the MENA New Energy 2017 conference to be held in Dubai, UAE on 25-26 April 2017. The event -formerly known as MENASol- brings senior executives from all over the globe but most importantly brings the key influencers, government officials, C-Level executives from developers and EPCs from the key MENA region.
The Network Director, Mr. Frank Wouters, will moderate a dedicated panel session on day 1 of the event on "Renewable Energy installation and products’ standards, regulations and guidelines: sharing the international experience".

The Network event partner of the Solar Rooftop Forum in Dubai, UAE
EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network is an event partner of the Solar Rooftop Forum to be held on 17 May 2017 in Dubai, organised by the WBC Group. Mr. Frank Wouters, Network Director is among the invited speakers. The Solar Rooftop Forum aims to accelerate the adoption of solar power across Dubai’s residential, commercial and industrial sectors by addressing the key regional challenges currently restricting the uptake in the market, as well as delving into new business models driving the distributed generation sector on international markets. The Network at the I DRIVE CHANGE: Green Mobility Forum in Dubai, UAE
The Network is pleased to support and take part at the Green Mobility Forum, an event organised in Dubai on 21 – 22 May 2017 in Dubai by the WBC Group. With the support of a number of key government entities, the I DRIVE CHANGE initiative aims to advance sustainable transportation in the Emirates by helping accelerate the uptake of alternative fuel vehicles.

The Network at the Energy Transition Leaders Forum 2017, Brussels, Belgium
Revolve’s second Energy Transition Leaders Forum is coming to Brussels on 22 June 2017 as the ‘finale’ of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW).
The Network is supporting the event as a knowledge partner, while the Director, Mr. Frank Wouters, will be delivering an address during the Forum.
This influential forum is part of the 5th edition of Revolve’s flagship public information campaign – Visualizing Energy – that highlights the human dimension of the energy transition by showing workers in action on different renewable energy and energy efficiency projects around Europe and beyond with the aim of raising awareness with citizens and policy-makers about the great potential of green growth.

Arab Future Cities Summit, April 10-11, 2017, Doha Qatar
With the World Cup 2022 fast approaching and in a bid to facilitate its National Vision Strategy 2030, the Qatar Government has undertaken a number of initiatives across sectors that involve implementation of technology along with seamless execution of major infrastructure projects. Industry reports indicate that the government is expected to spend $40bn on railways, $15.5bn on the new airport, $20bn investment in roads, $7.4bn on the new port and $4bn on stadiums.
Against this backdrop, the 2017 Arab Future Cities Summit’s aim is to highlight the building blocks required towards achieving a sustainable and connected city. ‘Reducing the carbon footprint of the steel industry', April 19-20, 2017, Zaandam and Petten, The Netherlands
In cooperation with ECN, CATO will co-host the two-day conference ‘Reducing the carbon footprint of the steel industry', on the 19-20 April 2017. The scientific programme includes presentations of the latest results from the European funded Horizon 2020 projects, STEPWISE and FReSMe, which both focus on designing and demonstrating innovate CO2 capture techniques to reduce the carbon footprint of steel production. An interactive session will also focus on policies to support decarbonization efforts, while maintaining competitiveness and innovation in the European steel sector.
