Hello all!

It's hard to believe that summer has come and gone and we are just a few short weeks away from the leaves changing colors and crisp fall air here in Maryland. We had an incredibly busy summer with shows in San Diego, California; Uncasville, Connecticut; and Rosemont, Illinois in just four weeks.

San Diego Comic Con was our first show of the summer and to say it was challenging might be an understatement. We left our house on July 17th and didn't get home until July 31st. After driving there and back, we had put 5,200 miles on the van and were ready to get back! 

As for the show itself, we had a great time catching up with our west coast friends and seeing customers that we usually only get to see once a year. We were able to make some nice sales, and purchased several books including an Amazing Fantasy #15 5.0, a Captain America Comics #6, and a Detective Comics #225 among many others. 

SDCC continues to be an absolute spectacle, and while it may not be the premier comic book focused show in the country, it is amazing to meet collectors from all over the world who are a part of our hobby. 

The city of San Diego continues to outshine all others in terms of participating in the convention, with the entire downtown turning into an extension of the show itself. With an estimated 135,000 in attendance that week, it's a humbling reminder that we are just a fraction of a piece in an extremely large industry. 

After San Diego, we made the drive back to Maryland where we had a short rest before heading to the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut for our first ever Terrificon. This show is in its tenth year, and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of serious comic collectors who stopped by to say hello and shop with us. If you're someone who is only focused on buying comic books and comic art at conventions, be sure to add this one to your list. I would say it's like the younger sibling of a Heroes Con or Baltimore Comic Con in terms of scope and vibes. 

We made sure to scoop up some new books during the weekend:

After a quick stint in Connecticut, we once again drove back to Maryland to reload the van with several new boxes of CGC books we had gotten back. It was a quick turn around of pricing and prepping new books to bring some fresh inventory to Rosemont, Illinois for Fan Expo Chicago. We managed to reload with close to 200 new slabs, and made the drive to Illinois.

There was a ton of activity on Friday and Saturday, with most of our big sales coming from a collection of Golden Age EC and Harvey books that we had recently gotten back from CGC. This show was a bit of a blur for me, but we managed to stop into the famed Gibsons for a steak and some turtle pie! As always, I enjoyed catching up with everyone at the show, which we’re now approaching our 20th year of exhibiting at.

While we always have fun on the road, I would be lying if I said it isn't good to be home. Alex and I are going on a short vacation next week with our families, but shortly after that we are gearing up for our last conventions of the year at New York Comic Con and Baltimore Comic Con.

We have already prepared more than 1,000 new books to add to our convention stock for those two shows, so make sure to look through our boxes to check out all of our new additions.
