ECS 2021 Chinese New Year Class
ECS Chinese New Year Class will take place on February 14, 2021. We will need three volunteers for each class. Activities can be done in Chinese or English. Volunteer meeting will be on January 24, 2021, 2:10-3:00 pm. Volunteers will earn 1 service point by attending the volunteer meeting and 2 points by preparing and hosting the Chinese New Year class.

Academics Competition Volunteers
Most classes have completed the volunteers sign up. Please contact the room parents if your class has not done so. Please contact Academics for any questions.
Competition will be held on 12/13 and teachers will provide the recitation materials. Please help your student prepare. All students are required to participate. Please report absence to your teacher by 11/22/2020 and submit a recitation video by 12/13/2020 1:00pm to Academics . (Contest Rules )

ECS Typing Team Recruitment NEW
Greater Washington area Inter-school Chinese Character Recognition Competition is scheduled to be held on 5/22/2021. ECS School Team will start training on 12/6/2020 4:00-4:30. We are currently recruiting for Elementary Group (3rd -5th grade) & Middle School Group (6th-8th grade).
Mandarin Online Tutoring NEW
ECS Typing Team will be providing tutoring through Zoom every Saturday 5pm-6pm. All Zhuyin & Pinyin students are welcomed. (Sign up form )
Seal of Biliteracy Test Registration
The last 2020 Seal of Biliteracy Test（AAPPL）is scheduled on December 19 & 20 (registration deadline 12/14). Due to COVID, at-home testing is being offered. Registration is done through NCACLS website. Students with a score passing the certification standard will be rewarded according to ECS School Team policy. Please contact Ms. Huang for questions relating to registration, examinations and the Seal of Biliteracy, or parent volunteer opportunities.
To support the costs of our ECS School, we are moving forward with a silent auction just in time for the holiday gift buying season! We are seeking donated items which can be sourced from your favorite neighborhood shops or music teacher, or gift cards for that favorite take out restaurant. Every family that provides a donation will receive 1 service for every $15 in donated value in addition to the ability to claim a tax deduction for anything purchased directly. Please contact Anthony Chang @ Fundraising@nvaecs.org to coordinate your donations. Thank you to all the fun ideas coming in already like a special gift set from the National Palace Museum Shop! Go out and support your local businesses by asking them to participate and perhaps make the donation directly to ECS.
Donations will be accepted until November 29th and then we will provide instructions on the online silent auction which will run for two weeks to provide a contactless delivery just in time for Christmas!
ECS Yoyo team and Association of Chinese School will be holding an outdoor club meeting on Saturday, 11/7/2020 10:30am-11:30am. All interested students are encouraged to attend. (Info )
