FSMA Compliance: Do You Have a HARPC Food Safety Plan?
The U.S. FDA Preventive Controls Rule (a major rule under FSMA) requires companies that export food to the United States do develop written "Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) Plans" (commonly referred to as "Food Safety Plans"). These plans are a new and different requirement from other plans such as HACCP, ISO, BRC, SQF, etc, and must be developed by a "Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)."
The compliance deadlines have passed for most food businesses to develop their HARPC Food Safety Plans. FDA may review your plan as part of a routine facility inspection. Your U.S. Importer may also request to review your plan. If you have not developed your HARPC Food Safety Plan, Registrar Corp employs multiple PCQIs that can help develop or review your plan.
