A WORD IN DUE SEASON

Dear Friends,
A few weeks ago we celebrated the beginning of a new year. Today we celebrate the beginning of a new month and, shortly, a new season.
I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to Spring with greater anticipation this year than, perhaps, ever before. After the past year, renewal beckons the soul.
The good news is that we always have renewal for the asking through Jesus Christ. He is ever waiting to renew us, to refresh us, to restore us. And the wonderful thing is that we don't even have to wait until Spring!
So, ask Jesus today to renew you. And if you don't know Him yet, invite Him into your life now! Today is the day of salvation, so don't delay another moment!

My grandchildren are growing rapidly--as children are wont to do. :) They are involved in activities like horseback riding, soccer, ice skating, and choir. Our youngest, a two-year-old, has become the family ham. :)
All six of our grandchildren especially enjoy visiting us and partaking of Nonno's famous peperoni bread and Sunday pasta with meatballs.

If you have not yet read The Iron Saint, I encourage you to do so soon. The Lord instructed me to write this book back in November of 2020. It is a clarion call to the Church to prepare for the coming persecution.
There is no question we are living in perilous times, the times about which Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24. Already we have experienced the "beginnings of sorrows" that Jesus talked about.
But times will grow worse for the Body of Christ as the forces of evil threaten to overtake all that is good. Yet, Scripture tells us in Matthew 16: 18 that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church. Praise the Lord!
But we must prepare. Just as a triathlete prepares for the Iron Man competition, so must the Christ-Follower prepare for the dark days ahead. Jesus said that he who endures to the end shall be saved (Matthew 24: 13).
Will you be one who will endure? I pray so.

One of my favorite things about writing this story is that I get to go to Cape May whenever I need to. For those of you who don't know, I live about an hour and a half from this charming seaside town at the tip of the New Jersey peninsula. It is one of my most favorite places in the whole world!
The expected release date for The Captain and Mrs. Vye is December 2021, Lord willing, in time for Christmas. Please pray for me as I finish this story of God's heart. Thank you!

This month, I am staring a new thing! I am going to feature a special recipe from one of you--my treasured subscribers, aka Diorio Champions.

Italian Sausage Orecchiette Soup
(from the Kitchen of Diorio Champion Barbara Hart)
|
|
|
Ingredients
*Olive Oil - drizzle a little in the bottom of the pot
*1/2 lb of Italian Sausage-
Remove the casing and crumble
*2 carrots diced in small pieces
*1 medium onion diced small
*1/2 pound Orecchiette Pasta
Cooked
*2 cloves of garlic cut in half
*Fresh Thyme
*Salt and pepper to taste
*1 can of garlic fire roasted diced tomatoes
*3 Boxes of Chicken Broth
( Save 1/2 box in case you need it later)
*3/4 cup of white cooking wine
*1 can of Beans rinsed ( your choice)
*1/2 Bag of frozen Kale or spinach
*Sides: Crusty Bread and Salad
*Garnish: Grated Locatelli Cheese-and fresh basil
Instructions
In a large heavy pot sizzle a little olive oil in the bottom
Add crumbled sausage sauté
Add carrots sauté
Add onions sauté till soft
Add garlic cloves and fresh Thyme.
Salt and pepper to taste
Add 3/4 cup of cooking wine and deglaze until almost evaporated
Add diced tomatoes, 2 and 1/2
Boxes of chicken stock, cooked pasta , beans and spinach.
Simmer on Low for 20-30 minutes
Enjoy!! I always find I have to add more stock when the soup cools even though the pasta was precooked.
