Club Swim is back!

Purpose of the Club Swim
For club members to maintain or improve their swimming proficiency.
Who can do the Club Swim?
Any club member U14 or above can do the club swim. Members younger than U14's will require a parent who is a member to swim with them. There will be no points associated with the club swim, however, personal rivalries are encouraged!
Thank you to Mark Lehmann for running the Club Swim.

Purpose of the Club Meeting
To provide another form of communication to the membership in a face-to-face manner to inform of upcoming events, activities and processes.
Who should attend the Club Meeting?
The club meeting is for all members but will be predominantly focused on the lifesaving membership (SRC and above) however, all are encouraged to attend.

NIppers back this Sunday January 10th
Welcome back as we resume the nippers season after the Christmas/New Year break!
U10s are on nipper set up/pack down & BBQthis week and Sunday January 17th - please arrive at 7:30am to help with set up and we need about 5-6 parents to help with BBQ. We will be a bit short on helpers due to the nipper carnival so we really need all hands on deck and all families helping out if they are rostered on so we can share the workload.
Please note there is a Surf Boat Carnival on at Secret Harbour so we will have nippers set up slightly north of our normal spot. For ease of access, please use the beach entry just north of the main pathway (middle of the carpark). You can exit the same way - sign on as usual on the grass area. See map below.
Join a great team of Nipper Parents who provide essential Water Safety services every Sunday.
The NRC course is a great introduction to surf lifesaving and will qualify Nipper Parents/Guardians to perform water safety for Nipper water-based activities.
The NRC course is free for members and will cover surf awareness, recognising safe beach zones, aquatic rescues with rescue tube/contact tow, and Surf Lifesaving signals. Participants must be able to complete a 200m Ocean Swim in 6 minutes.
We need as many water safety assistants as possible to support every age group - please register via the office. More information and how to register are in the info sheet below.
**Requalifications: To maintain currency, members who hold an NRC will need to undergo an annual proficiency test. You can join the scheduled NRC course for this.
Starfish Nippers is a life saving skills program designed for children and young adults with a disability 6 years and older. We are pleased to announce the program will be back at the end of this month thanks to the support of our sponsor, Alcoa. We are looking for volunteers to assist our program coordinator with the beach activities. If you are interested in taking part in this fun and rewarding program, please contact the office. If you know of anyone who would like to participate in the Startfish Nippers program please refer them to the club office - spaces are limited.
Calling all aspiring Youth Leaders!
Would you like to take on an important leadership role at the club and gain valuable experience? Nominations are open for the position of Junior Club Captain for the 2021-2022 season!
Cadets in the U15-17 age group are invited to apply - you will need to do a brief speech on Sunday 7th February (after the nippers club carnival) about your surf club experience and why you would make a great Junior Club Captain. The nippers will then cast their vote and the winner announced at the end of season wind-up.
Please visit SLSWA's website for more information about the Youth Program and to register. *Click headings on the Youth Pathways webpage for more information & course dates

We need a volunteer to coordinate the weekly BBQ on Sunday mornings - a very important fundraiser for our club. Without a new coordinator coming on board, we will not be able to run the BBQ on Sundays and continue to feed the hungry masses after Nippers and other Sunday activities. Our outgoing coordinator Lisa will be available to assist and mentor you.
We're always looking for members to join Team BBQ and help it run smoothly every week. It's a great way to meet fellow members and help support the club's fundraising program.
Please contact the office if you can help. Thank you for your support.
