Like everywhere (or almost), the only thing predictable about Provence’s fall weather is the unpredictability. One day you might be in a t-shirt feeling overdressed, and the next, you need a heavy sweater. However, the natural muted hues of the season make up for the necessary wardrobe adjustments.
Often the early mornings are veiled in fog, but once the humidity dissipates, the vines shimmer in shades of yellow and red. During this period, market stalls display produce in yellows (pears, butternut squash, quince), oranges (carrots, courge and potimaron squash) and browns (wild mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts). The problem is how to choose! Enjoy our new fall menu by Annette Charlton.
Autumn along the Côte d’Azur is quieter, as it’s the season between summer beachgoers and the winter festivals. Nevertheless, the daytime temperatures are pleasant along the coast, and the skies remain clear and blue. So, although October may not be prime weather for spending the day on a beach, there are villages, vineyards and museums awaiting your visit.
