Hi friend,
A quick update this month (because we're all busy in this holiday season). Well, unless you're a writer - in which case scroll down for some big news from me!
And congrats to our two book giveaway winners from last month's newsletter - Jennifer and stormgirl 😀
First off, I wish you the happiest wishes of the season, whatever you celebrate. I'm hoping to see lots of decorations and some Christmas markets🎄.
In addition to heading to California to spend time with family, I'm making a short trip to Vancouver BC and Whistler (my first time there if you have any recommendations!).
The image above is me cooking at Thanksgiving - before the incident where the turkey fell on the floor- eek (Yes that really happened - you can watch the proof here !).
Christmas Reading Recommendations
If you're looking for some fun Christmas themed reads, I can recommend the new release by Kerry Anne King, Relocating Christmas which is only $1.99 in the Kindle store (or free on Kindle Unlimited). Last month I recommended another fun choice, Acid Christmas by Charlotte Dune (also free on Kindle Unlimited).
Of course, if you haven't read my own fun feminist fiction, The Exit Strategy, it's not Christmas themed but it does make an uplifting and entertaining read (Also don't forget that books make the best gifts!).
Quick Writing Update
Writing wise, I'm still working on revisions to my second book - Erasing Grace. I hope you might see it in 2024 (fingers crossed!). I've finished revisions on the first 15,000 words. Given I just started in November, this feels like good progress.
Just For Writers!
Hot news! I just re-opened registration for my 12 Weeks to Book Launch Success program. This is a group mastermind program where I help new authors create a plan to successfully launch their book. The next round starts on January 15th, and I'd love for you to consider it!
I've been thrilled with the feedback from the founding round of ten authors who just finished (a little of that here if you're interested).
There's also a new scholarship option for writers in groups that are historically under-represented in publishing! (More on that below).
This program could be ideal for you or another writer if...
- You have a book launch planned for second half of 2024 or in 2025
- You’re excited, but feel overwhelmed with getting all the right launch activities in place
- You don’t want to waste time and money on book marketing that doesn’t work
- You write in the women’s fiction or memoir genres
- You like the idea of being part of a small supportive class cohort – a community of other authors launching in a similar time period.
Any interest in learning more or joining us? If yes, hit reply and say I’m interested. I'll send you more details.
For this second round, I'm also launching a scholarship program, aimed at writers from groups historically under-represented in publishing. The scholarship recipient will get a no cost program registration in the 12 Weeks program.
If you know anyone writers who might be a fit for the program, I'd love if you shared with them.

JOIN THE LIST FOR BOOK MARKETING TIPS
I'm working on a free webinar and Q&A with Lilian Sue (Publicist, PR expert, and author of The Powerful Publicity Prescription) for the New Year. The info on this free webinar will go out to the Book Marketing Tips list above.
Lastly, a few fun short videos to give you a taste of the current holiday (and very rainy) season in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico:
It's the RAINY season
The star lights are up!
Rain in the main square (Not my video but here's how pretty it looks!)
And that's it for this busy month!
In gratitude - and again all the best wishes of the season,
Lainey
