August 31 marks the last working day at the Library for Ellen Miles. After 16 years, she's leaving to spend time with her family.
We asked Ellen to reflect on her time at the Library and tell us what stood out. Here's what she said.
What did you enjoy most about working here?
I enjoyed helping patrons find the perfect book, hosting fun events, and connecting the Camas community with all the amazing, free services the Library has to offer.
Which memories are your favorites?
Walking into the Camas Library for the first time for my job interview, and being awestruck by how beautiful the building was.
Convincing the previous Library director that we needed a Facebook page for the Library, and setting that up knowing it was going to be an important part of our future.
Wearing the giant inflatable chicken costume at Boo Bash and "pecking" the delighted kids.
Hosting my first Library sleepover in early 2008! I hosted 19 sleepovers altogether (12 Big Kids, 2 Little Kids, 5 Teens).
If you'd like to see photos of the sleepovers or Ellen in that inflatable chicken suit, please join us for her goodbye party on Thursday, August 31, 2-4 p.m. There will be a dessert bar, so please bring a treat to share.
