One platform to rule them all...
Fred Flinstone watching TV GIF

Not too long ago I thought to myself: "I wish I could use one app to see all the content I pay for, and not have to open all my streaming platforms individually". So I'm very excited to share this tech-letter

Oh, what's that? You're going to use the buttons below to share this tech-letter because this is wonderful content?

Aw, thank you!

Queu interface

This might be a long one, so hold on. Promise it's worth it.

First thing's first, this is Queu. Not an app, not technically a website, but a downloadable extension for Google Chrome (or Brave). The concept behind this is as straight forward as what I mentioned above - stream all your shows and movies from different platforms, all in one place.

Note, this isn't free content. You can't sign up for Queu and expect to watch Netflix for free. You still need to have an account with the streaming platforms you'd like to use; this is just an easier way to access all of that content in one single place, instead of having to open up different tabs for different services and spending hours hunting for what to watch next

Queu offers that consolidation, syncs up with your watch history so you're not recommended content you've already watched, and, on that note, even offers personalized recommendations. For those wondering what all content is offered, this includes: Netflix, HBO Now, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.

It might be slightly challenging to get started, so let me walk you through it.

Step 1

Download the Chrome (or Brave) extension.

Huh, I guess that part wasn't as challenging.

Once that's done and you're redirected to Queu, it will offer a sign in / sign up screen. Something like the image below.

Queu sign-up process

This is where you create an email and a password for Queu, and choose whatever platforms you'd like to view (that you subscribe to).

Note, this isn't asking for your streaming account login details, it's just asking you to choose what you would like to see (it may or may not have taken me a second to figure this out). Queu actually doesn't ask you for your login details for these streaming services, at all. Ever (I bet you're curious now).

Once you sign in, you'll see a list of all the content from the streaming platforms you choose. In my case, I selected Netflix and Amazon Prime Video - so it shows me all movies and all shows available on these platforms.

"But.. Prithvi... how can I watch any of this if I haven't logged into my streaming accounts and you said I can't just watch this for free?

Beautiful question, thank you for asking. Say you select a Netflix movie from the list, Queu will immediately redirect you to Netflix.com, where you'll be asked to sign in. Queu doesn't ask for your login details, instead, it will redirect you to the actual platform for you to sign in. Take a look at the GIF below.

Using Netflix sign-in for Queu

After signing in to all your chosen streaming platforms, all you have to do is refresh the Queu page and your video will instantly start playing!

Rest, everything should be pretty familiar to you. Play, pause, full screen, picture-in-picture mode; Queu allows you to search through all your chosen libraries, update your platforms for if you ever start or stop subscribing to a service, and even offers recommendations.

It's truly as coincidental as coincidence gets, because I really did only recently think of how convenient it would be to have one platform to rule them all, instead of going through multiple websites to find content I already pay for.
