Dr. Nusrat Hasan Naqvi was born in 5/16/1945 in the province Bedouin from her mother, Dr. Haseen Bano Hasan, who was the first female PhD in Urdu in her province, poetess, mother of 12 children and president of an all female college. Her father, Ibrahim Hasan, was an attorney, law teacher and unusually supportive husband. She excelled in both academics and athletics as a runner. She was first division in her college and excelled in the sciences.
Dr. Naqvi moved to the United States in 1975 after completing her Masters to meet her husband, Dr. Syed Zamin Naqvi and earned her PhD in Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University, astonishing all of her mentors with her insatiable thirst for knowledge. She was an early adapter to technology and a very successful grant writer, particularly pertaining to scientific education for underprivileged youth.
