In her, IMI has lost a key Stalwart, and, the community a selfless leader and dedicated soldier of Imam e Zamana ATFS.  Dr. Naqvi was a gentle soul, a role model, mentor, passionate community leader and an excellent teacher whose tremendous services for our women, young leaders and the Global Community shall be remembered for long.

Dr. Nusrat Hasan Naqvi was born in 5/16/1945 in the province Bedouin from her mother, Dr. Haseen Bano Hasan, who was the first female PhD in Urdu in her province, poetess, mother of 12 children and president of an all female college. Her father, Ibrahim Hasan, was an attorney, law teacher and unusually supportive husband. She excelled in both academics and athletics as a runner. She was first division in her college and excelled in the sciences. 

Dr. Naqvi moved to the United States in 1975 after completing her Masters to meet her husband, Dr. Syed Zamin Naqvi and earned her PhD in Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University, astonishing all of her mentors with her insatiable thirst for knowledge. She was an early adapter to technology and a very successful grant writer, particularly pertaining to scientific education for underprivileged youth.

Committed to serving humanity and our community, Dr. Naqvi engaged not only locally but also served those in need all over the world. She represented IMI as part of our 1st delegation to the UN in 2001, and also in Australia at the UN DPI Conference to Advance Global Health where she pushed for a debt moratorium against Pakistan then suffering severe floods. Always an advocate for women and girls, she spearheaded the 3rd International Conference on South Asian Women and was key to the IMI Women's Auxiliary (IMI Women's Wing) and the Young Leaders Division.

She not only was a key organizer and presenter in scores of IMI Conferences, but nurtured young and olds minds in her role as an educator and organizer for many professional societies in the US and overseas. She served on numerous boards and positions including assistant director of environmental studies at Southern University, the President of American Women in Science, and of course, as the first female Global President of Imamia Medics International, and loved teaching biology and mentoring young people with aspirations in the fields of science and pursuit of truth.

She was the most outstanding mother of two sons and served as a loving mother figure to all 11 of her siblings being the eldest female and matriarch of her blessed family. Her radiant spirit touched thousands upon thousands of souls, including one of her nurses, who’s son had the great bounty of having her as a professor and noted that she was his favorite teacher in his university.

She was and continues to be an inspiration to thousands of students and graduates (and the rest of us at IMI Headquarters and larger IMI family). Her contributions to IMI are too profound to measure and her dedication hard to emulate. She will be greatly missed by all at Imamia Medics International and remembered with pride and fondness.
