The Invisible team has developed a novel One Health Zoonotic & Environmental Risk Assessment tool using evidence-based and peer-reviewed data. Last week, our team announced the HEALTH tool and shared it with its first users at the Scripps Primary Care Conference. It was received with rave reviews. Now, we’re sharing it with all of you!
Announcing HEALTH: a Zoonotic & Environmental Illness Risk Assessment Tool. This tool helps clinicians and their patients understand and uncover environmental contributors to individual health and wellbeing. Each of the letters in HEALTH stands for a category that clinicians can assess: Human, Environment, Animal, Location, Travel, Habits. The prompts in each category consider zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, preventative strategies, encounters with animals, environmental toxins such as mold and algae, and travel related risk factors.
With this tool, Invisible is helping clinicians talk with their patients about environmental health and encouraging them to consider these often overlooked health impacts. Each prompt is backed by evidence and peer-reviewed articles that clinicians can access via the Invisible Education Initiative website. Conference attendees loved this tool, and most returned home with a copy of it. One attendee remarked “It raised the awareness of how we are not looking at some common presentations of Lyme disease and other zoonotic diseases.”
