Hello !
We’re so excited to get started with our Mindful Fall CleanUp challenge!
This is the beginning of a 10-week journey that will take you into a deeper relationship with your land, in simple and practical ways.
Every challenge will give you the opportunity to observe + interact, which builds the foundation for all of your future EarthCare projects. No matter your future goals and dreams, trust that this is an incredibly valuable way to spend time with the land you care for.
So let’s go!
Your first challenge is a helpful, productive and impactful way to interact with the land.
Challenge #1: Pick up trash (non-organic debris) on a Land Walk
What is a land walk? This is a practice we recommend at least once a season during the transition of solstice or equinox, where you actively walk your entire property to see what’s present in the landscape. Those are the most dynamic times to notice what’s changing, how wildlife is moving and getting ready for the next season, and so on.
When Kendra offers land walks as a service, her process involves:
Noticing special plants, areas of concern or interest, making notes in a Nature Journal.
Identifying plants and learning whether they’re native, edible, poisonous.
Observing sunlight patterns, soil conditions, moisture presence in various patches.
Looking for signs of wildlife and habitat that might already exist.
Listening to the land itself, to learn more about its wants, needs, limits, provisions.
