Join us for 2 days at Sydney’s beautiful Rushcutters Bay and learn how to incorporate dance movement therapy concepts when creating a community-based dance performance.
Community-based dance has a strange and wonderful way of stimulating rippling, healing effects on the community; its therapeutic aspects include:
• inclusivity: welcoming of all bodies and all levels of dance experience;
• expanded self: playfully venturing outside of one’s comfort zone through movement; and
• shared purpose: explored through both group movement and collaborative planning.
This workshop is open to DMTs, DMTs-in-training, Creative Arts and other therapists, dancers, community artists, and anyone interested in the effects of community-based dance on people’s mental health and wellbeing.
