I knew Corporate America wasn’t for me which is one of the reasons I pursued a second career as a psychotherapist, but when I finished my training and licensing requirements, I was too scared to make a big career change. Instead, I fooled myself into believing the nonprofit sector would fulfill me. Only a few months in, I was deeply disillusioned.
STILL unwilling to reimagine my career, I decided to return
to corporate, but there was one problem: No one would hire me.
Just as I began to lose hope, things started to progress with an insurance company in Midtown. After several interviews, the hiring leader said she’d speak to HR about my salary requirements.
Shortly after, on March 1st of 2018, I opened an email that landed like a punch to the gut. The funding for the position had been pulled.
