Have you heard of "Dynamic Recruiting"?
Traditional recruiting is time or event-based. For example, Units recruit in the Fall & Spring and host Join Scouting Nights. The traditional thought process is “one and done”. Dynamic Recruiting is an ongoing effort, putting recruiting at the forefront of everyone’s mind. It may sound like more work, but it makes recruiting easier!
Hosting monthly Normal Friend Activities (NFAs) is a great way to welcome new families to try out Scouting - consistently.
Add NFAs to your Unit’s calendar and make the event intentional. Ask families to submit 3-5 non-Scouting families’ contact information to invite to future NFAs, create a master list, track who came, didn't join at the event, and follow up accordingly.
Here are some Normal Friend Activity Ideas:
- Halloween Party
- Service Project
- Family Game Night
- Kickball or Gaga ball tournament
- Snow Day: build a snowman contest
- Bowling
- Mini golf
- BBQ
- Escape Room
- STEM Project
