OLYMPIA – VaLiesha M. Brown assumed the role of Port General Counsel for the Port of Olympia on April 19, 2021 according to Sam Gibboney, Executive Director.
Brown brings the Port a strong background in employment law, workplace investigations, and labor relations.
Prior to joining the Port of Olympia, Brown worked as an attorney at Ogden Murphy Wallace in Seattle, as an advisor to the City of Seattle’s public utility departments, and as an associate attorney with a business litigation law firm in Maryland.
Brown earned her law degree at Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Directly following graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Robert C. Nalley (ret.), judge for Charles County Circuit Court. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.
“I am pleased to welcome VaLiesha to the Port of Olympia as the first staff general counsel,” said Gibboney. “We had many qualified candidates, but felt VaLiesha was the best fit for the Port. We are looking forward to having her on the Port’s leadership team and working with her to continue to build upon and broaden the Port’s commitment to Thurston County.”
